Polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons are discussed as possible starting materials for abiotic syntheses of materials required by the earliest forms of life.
Three-dimensional orientation of molecule can be understood by knowledge of stereochemistry which helps to further study of molecule and for syntheses of new compounds.
Carbohydrates are main source to nutrition. Polysaccharides serve as an energy store and as structural components. The 5-carbon monosaccharide ribose is an important component of coenzymes (e.g., ATP, FAD and NAD) and the backbone of the genetic molecule known as RNA. The related deoxyribose is a component of DNA. Carbohydrates play key roles in the immune system, fertilization, blood clotting etc. Therefore, study of carbohydrate chemistry helps us to understand different activities of our body including metabolism.
