Introduced as a General course in 1951 and subsequently upgraded to Honours course in 1986 in response to the increasing demand of students to pursue it in the college, the department is staffed with teachers (5), duly qualified and experienced to handle the diverse kind of students coming from different background.
Not merely confined to classroom teaching, the department adopts time and again some varying innovative events such as debates, quizzes, seminars, film shows, etc. This makes the course not only interesting to the students but also they adapt to the new materials in no time.
