DEPARTMENT OF PHILOSOPHY

Welcome to the department of philosophy Vijaygarh Jyotish Roy college. Department of philosophy provides an excellent and comfortable environment for the teaching-learning process. At the undergraduate level, our department offers 3-year courses. The four faculty members of this department always take significant initiatives and efforts for the betterment of students in the department itself.

Our department always emphasizes student-centric programs like seminar baby special lectures to prepare them for a great future ahead. All the faculty members also take very important roles in making a student's for the examination and other activities. Apart from the regular classes department provides tutorial and remedial classes for extending special support to the students. We encourage our students to participate in different activities, lectures and events. The faculty members are committed to both teaching and research programs and participate in many interdisciplinary academic activities.

WHY STUDY PHILOSOPHY

Philosophy is the systematic study for a comprehensive understanding of the world. It gives ideas to analyse concepts,arguments and problems. Literally the term 'philosophy' means love of wisdom. It helps to enhance our ability to think logically which again helps people to understand the world in a broader sense.

 

Indian philosophy gives knowledge about metaphysics , the existence of God and soul ,nature of religion and about spiritualism. western philosophy on the other hand discusses about mind its relation to body, natural sciences, ethics, aesthetics, logic, values, conduct and much more.
