At Vijaygarh Jyotish Ray college, the department of Political Science is one of the most sought after and noted for its commitment towards motivating the students to achieve success in their future career proposition. The department focuses on achieving academic excellence by following the syllabus provided by the Calcutta University. Majority of students belong to social and economic backward classes and further most of them are first generation learners. Therefore, in order to alleviate this students’ group, all the faculty members rigorously try to impart the lesson in easy way. So that it can be easily accepted by the students. Along with the regular classes remedial classes are also taken by the faculty members for better understanding any topic. Moreover, series of lectures and seminars are organized by the department so that students can express their opinion as well as gain knowledge from discussions on various topic related to political science. As the Political Science has been one of the major papers in UPSC/PSC exam as well as other government service examinations, so efforts have been taken by faculty members to initiate an ad-hoc course in this regard without any course fees. Faculty members of colleges and university of repute have been invited to enrich the course by imparting their valuable knowledge among students. Future plan of the Department The faculty members of the Department of Political Science, jointly focuses on bringing more students of socio-economic backward classes along with other students to limelight by supporting them through their thick and thin. So that, they can achieve a platform of respect and dignity in the society. Faculty Members the Department of Political Science is enriched with faculties having several years of experience in both teaching and research.
