A few words about the Research Cell, Vijaygarh Jyotish Ray College

This Research and Development Centre in the college was established in 2003 with an aim to encourage the post graduate students to take up scientific research as their careers. The centre harbours high end instruments like Fluorimeter, Phase contrast microscope, CO2 incubator and Animal Cell Culture facilities besides basic instruments for carrying out research activities.
          Projects funded by DBT, DST and BARNS are currently under way at the centre. The major thrust area of research at the centre is development of co-ordination metal complex as anti-Leishmanial agent and development of microbial media for culturing parasites. Outcomes of research at the centre have been published in several international journals. One fellow, Smt. Anindita Mukherjee, from the centre has been already awarded the Ph.D. degree in Inorganic Chemistry and Smt. Ananya Banerjee is carrying out her research for Ph.D. degree in Microbiology. Overall, the centre has been serving as a hub for active research.
